Cynthia Mort takes the show back

Buzz! Here is s sizzling news waiting for you. No more steamy stuff ahead or any guidance from a psychiatrist about you intimate relationships, I mean of three couples. If you don’t learn anything then why do you watch this show? So guys, ‘Tell Me You Love Me‘, has been cancelled by the HBO after ten episodes of second season. The creator Cynthia Mort gives reason as “we couldn’t find the right direction”. Oh cool in what direction was going since 2007. Obviously it was always a one track story.

I didn’t find anything different in the previous episodes. I mean in every episode one would find two things with all the three couples. They would take an advice from psychologist on any long dragged issue and then try the solution immediately after reaching home. Initially it was good but when you keep watching the same thing into the second season then it becomes a drag.

Moreover, I don’t think there was anything new which could be added to the show, so Cynthia took a right decision. Maximum she could do with the show was that she could have added some new couples to the show, and that could too work only if the new couple were Tarzan and Jane. Only they could say proudly that ‘Tell Me You Love Me’. May be they could be presented as ideals for others. If nothing else it would have been good for laughs.

Or she could say bye to the present three couples after making their lives up to their satisfaction, and then the new pairs could have been introduced. But the storyline itself made it difficult to happen, as it was excessively attentive to the personal lives of three couples and not towards the psychologist, who helps the patients in making changes in people’s sex life. But now sand has slipped out of hands.

But yeah, in parts, the show was pretty entertaining. I laughed in the second season when it was disclosed that the lovely doctor herself was insecure in her love life. She never had children because she didn’t want to share her husband with anybody and yet her marriage ended in divorce.

Tell me you love me gets a nomination at last

This weekend I am not in the mood to go out and see anybody. I have decided to stay at home and to catch up with the world. I was surfing on the net a few minutes ago where I happened to clicked on the television news and you would be amused to know what I found on Emmy’s nomination list. ‘Tell me you love me‘. Yes, I found the name of this show there.

Then I looked on its left side and saw the name of Jane Alexander, she has been nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actress. For a moment I was surprised and shocked thinking that perhaps the show has been nominated for the best drama series. The concept of the series is really good and the first episodes were really impressive but after while the story began to drag. The problems faced by the couples are sure enough faced by many couples in real life as well but people watch TV for entertainment, to forget their problems and not to be constantly reminded about them.

It is highly unlikely that anyone would follow the advice given on the series in their real life. It began with a purpose and was quite fast paced, but after a while started meandering, getting into other issues.

Yet there are people who get pleasure in watching the psychological dramas and like to explore the issues like human sexuality, which are not discussed very often. It’s defiantly very educative for them.

It reminds me of my friend, he is very keen to watch this show. Jane has done well in the role portraying the woman struggling to find the answers to her dilemmas. She truly deserves this nomination. I wish her all the very best.
